How to connect a barcode scanner to a computer or mobile phone?
The method of connecting a barcode scanner to a computer or mobile phone depends on the device type and
transmission protocol.
For computer connections, the most common method is USB wired connection. Plug the data cable into the
computer's USB port, and the system will automatically recognize and install the driver. Some models may require
manually downloading the corresponding driver from the official website.
For wireless connections, Bluetooth can be used:
Enable Bluetooth on the computer.
Put the barcode scanner into pairing mode (usually by holding the pairing button until the indicator light flashes).
Search for the device name on the computer and click to pair (a passcode such as "0000" or "1234" may be required).
Some smart barcode scanners also support Wi-Fi connections. They can be connected to a local network via the
device’s settings menu, or bound by entering the Wi-Fi credentials in the accompanying computer software.
For mobile phone connections, Bluetooth is the universal solution
Enable Bluetooth on the phone.
Put the scanner into pairing mode (refer to the manual).
Search for the device on the phone and pair it (a passcode may be required). Once connected, scanned data will automatically
appear in a notepad or designated app.
Android phones can also use an OTG cable for a wired connection:
Connect the scanner’s USB interface to the phone via an OTG adapter.
Enable OTG functionality in the phone settings.
Some barcode scanners have dedicated apps. After downloading and installing the app, connect the scanner via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
for additional features like data management and format customization.
Note:
Ensure the scanner supports the required transmission protocol.
For wireless connections, keep devices within the effective range.
Some older models may require manually switching the data transfer mode.
